GETTING STARTED WITH ZOOM

Our goal at Great Start Karate is to make your child’s live, online karate class experience the very best it can be! We use Zoom as our online instructional platform given it’s easy-to-use format. Here are a few tips that will make learning easy, fun and rewarding.

-If you have not already done so, download the free Zoom app ahead of time on to the device you will be using.

-Sign in using your child’s first name, not a parent’s name. This helps instructors interact with students on a first name basis and allows us to take roll. If the Zoom account is in a parent’s name, you can change the name upon logging in (see Renaming in Zoom below)

-Have your child sign in 5 minutes before the start of class where they will be invited in at the start of the class.

TIPS TO IMPROVE ZOOM EXPERIENCE

Select a location in the home where your child has adequate space to perform (approximately 8′ wide x 8′ deep).

Because karate instruction includes full body movements, position the camera so your child’s full body is visible. It is important for the instructor to see your child from head to toe.

We recommend using a large screen monitor or TV as your video display. Use an HDMI cable to plug your computer or iPad into a large screen monitor or TV. This will significantly enhance your child’s ability to view the instructor.
